A first impression from the VK9MT crew European DX Foundation: It was with the support of organizations, clubs, and individual DXers that VK9MT Mellish Reef was “on the air” during the period of March 30 to April 4, 2014. As you may have read, the DXpedition was impacted by Cyclone Ita, which prompted an evacuation of the reef for safety concerns. Our 10 day goal was 80,000 QSOs and as much RTTY as possible. Cote d’Ivoire activity.

Between 17 and 30 November 2013 Chris F4WBN, Jan DJ8NK and Paul F6EXV will operate from just outside Abidjan as TU5AX, TU5NK and TU5XV. This activity will assist the revival of TU2CI, the radio club of Ivory Coast that was totally destroyed during the civil war in 2010. The team plans to donate radio equipment and antennas to the club and they will assist the club with the installation and train the club members to use the equipment. Z81X – South Sudan

On 15 November IARU Region 1 organised a Radio Spectrum/Regulatory Workshop with the aim to assist the South Sudanese administration with the implementation of amateur radio. The workshop was part of a goodwill project in cooperation with Radio Arcala, DX University, the YASME Foundation, ARRL, Rock City Investments Co, Yaesu Musen Co. Ltd of Japan and the European DX Foundation. The workshop took place on the compound of the European Union in Juba the capital of South Sudan.
