TX7EU – Maraquesas Islands – March 2016

Coming home from Tenerife just before new year and in the doldrums, I was happy to receive an email from Ronald-PA3EWP on New Years Day inviting me to The Marquesas Islands. I was to make up the fourth member of the team including Hans-DL6JGN and Ernoe-DK2ANN. I soon made my airline booking via Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Los Angeles, Auckland and Papeete. 3C7A – Equaterial Guinea – March 2016

Preparation for the 3C7A, or actually 3C7GIA, started early 2015. I had just returned from a 1 week trip to 7Q. and was looking for a new adventure. I knew from the past that 3C was a tough task, not many had made it all the way – when operation started it was ranked 30 on clublog most wanted. In parallell with 3C I also worked on getting licence in D6, where I operated in sep 2015 as D67GIA. ZL9A – Auckland & Campbell Island – January 2016

The Antipodes Island project was carried out through a partnership with the Department of Conservation (DoC) of New Zealand. Our team of four (Cezar, VE3LYC; Craig, VK5CE; Stan, SQ8X; and Bob, KD1CT) re­ceived the permission to land and op­erate two radio stations for a period of four days. While we covered the transportation cost for a 6-member DoC crew and a lot of building materi­als they had to bring on the island, we have benefited from their on-site lo­gistics, including being allowed to op­erate from the Castaway Depot, using their generators, batteries, etc. The team met in Invercargill on January… Continue reading
