EUDXF Supports JD1/JG1PFR Ogasawara CW DXpedition 2026

The European DX Foundation (EUDXF) is pleased to announce its financial support for the JD1/JG1PFR Ogasawara CW DXpedition, planned by Rudi Klos, DK7PE/JG1PFR, from 12 to 19 September 2026.

Rudi Klos is one of the most experienced DXpeditioners in the amateur radio world. Licensed since 1973, he has been active in international amateur radio and DXpeditioning for more than five decades. During his remarkable amateur radio career, he has operated from 178 DXCC entities, currently recognized as a DXFC world record.

The expedition will take place from the Ogasawara Islands (JD1), located approximately 1,000 km south of Tokyo. Due to the remote nature of the islands, access is only possible by ship, requiring a journey of approximately 26 hours each way.

Operating under the callsign JD1/JG1PFR, Rudi will focus primarily on CW operation on the HF bands, following the tradition of the classic one-man DXpeditions that were once synonymous with amateur radio exploration. The station will consist of a compact portable HF setup using wire antennas, wire beams, and low-band antennas, with the objective of providing as many CW contacts as possible to the international DX community.

The EUDXF Board recognizes the value of supporting dedicated and experienced operators who activate sought-after DXCC entities and contribute to the continued vitality of CW and DXing. We are therefore pleased to provide financial assistance to help make this expedition possible.

More information about Rudi’s previous DXpedition activities can be found at www.rooody.de.

The EUDXF wishes Rudi every success with the JD1/JG1PFR Ogasawara CW DXpedition 2026 and looks forward to a successful activation from this remote Pacific location.
